SLA Civil Admiration Offices in Jaffna to be made permanent

SLA 52 Division Commander Brigadier Lal Perera officially opened a civil administration office in Kodikaamam area in Thenmaraadchi on 30 June in addition to the one already functioning in Jaffna town, sources in Jaffna said. The hurried official openings of SLA civil administration offices in Jaffna peninsula are said to be a part of the government scheme to keep the peninsula under the control of SLA, the sources added. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Presidential Action Committee (PAC) has again instructed the government officials in the North to invite local SLA key officials to all government functions, Jaffna Secretariat sources said.

The opening of SLA civil administration offices have raised fear among the residents of Jaffna peninsula as these local SLA civil administration offices had been the very places where SLA intelligence unit men had planned and executed several arrests, abductions and killings of young men and women with the assistance of paramilitary men, civil society representatives said.

The Kodikaamam SLA Civil Administration Office is claimed to serve the people of Thenmaraadchi and Vadamaraadchi including those in Karaveddi and Maruthangkea’ni.

Earlier, PAC Secretary had issued strict instruction to the Government Agents of the five districts in North to invite Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Jaffna Commander, government parliamentarians and the key members of PAC to all official functions and ceremonies of the government departments.
