SLA soldiers sexually harass Tamil women in Paduvaankarai, Batticaloa

Soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army are reported to be engaged in sexually harassing resettled Tamil women in the Batticaloa district, according to residents of several resettled villages. SLA soldiers camped in small sentry points located in Thikiliveddai in Ea’raavoor police division have been harassing the women, civil sources say.

The SLA soldiers harass women who go to public wells for a bath and to fetch drinking water are being abused in filth by the SLA soldiers in Sinhala language.

SLA soldiers on duty are alleged to have sexually abused a girl last February.

Due to current drought situation people residing in Paduvaankarai area are forced to go public wells for bath and to fetch drinking water.

People in Paduvaankarai are facing untold difficulties in obtaining potable water.
