SLA claims Gurunagar HSZ removed

Acting Military spokesman, Colonel Duminda Gamage, talking to the Colombo media Tuesday, claimed that the High Security Zone (HSZ) in the Gurunagar area in Jaffna has been removed. He further said that this step has been taken to facilitate the resettlement of civilian, and added HSZ is gradually being dismantled since Monday and civilians are being allowed to reoccupy their former dwellings.

Gamage further said that several such HSZs were removed after the Sri Lanka Army commander had visited the areas and approved its removal.

The area around the CeyNor jetty at Gurunagar in the Jaffna peninsula had been declared high security zone since 1995 after the take over following successful Operation Riviresa.
