Fonseka’s lawyers to appeal ‘conviction’

Sri Lanka’s ex-Army Commander Gen. Sarath Fonseka’s lawyers have decided to file a petition in the court of appealing contesting the verdict issued by the military court. Fonseka’s Democratic National Alliance (DNA) party termed the first court martial hearing, concluded Friday that the cae was ‘one sided’ and that they will not accept the ruling.

DNA’s Anura Kumara Dissanayake told a news conference in Colombo that the conviction was issued when Fonseka’s lawyers had been on holiday, and therefore, this was an unacceptable ruling by the military court.
