Some areas in Vadamaraadchi East to be declared HSZ

The uprooted families of Vadamaraadchi East ín Raamaavil and Kudaththanai camps who will be taken to Vadamaraadchi East Thursday will be first lodged in four government buildings and the families from Kaddaikkaadu and Vettilaikkea’ni areas will not be permitted to resettle in their own houses as these villages now occupied by Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) are expected to be declared as High Security Zone (HSZ), Jaffna District Secretariat sources said. The uprooted families from these villages may have to remain in the government buildings and nothing can be confirmed about the resettlement procedure now, according to Maruthangkea’ni Assistant Government Agent Office sources. Meanwhile, Point Pedro-Maruthangkea’ni road through Naakarkoayil that had been closed by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) for the last fifteen years will be opened for public use Thursday from 7:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m, the sources added.

The uprooted families will be lodged first in Chempianpattu Government Tamil Mixed School, Uduththu’rai Makaaa Viththiyaalayam, Maruthangkea’ni Hindu Makaa Viththiyaalayam and Thaa’laiyadi government hospital which had been under the control of Liberation Tigers before the war.

The particulars of the families lodged in the government buildings will be registered before they are taken to their own houses to be resettled.

Though it is said that the uprooted families will be resettled in their own houses in Vadamaraadchi East it is yet to be confirmed officially.

The families from Kaddaikkaadu and Vettilaikea’ni areas will not be allowed to resettle in their own houses as this area is occupied by SLN which has its bases there. These families most probably have to stay long in the government buildings where they are first lodged.

Permission has been granted to them to take action only to resettle the uprooted families from areas other than Kaddaikkaadu and Vettilaikkea’ni, Maruthangkea’ni AGA office sources said.

Raamaavil and Kudaththanai camps where the uprooted families from Vadamaraadchi East were held will be closed Thursday, Jaffna Secretariat sources said.
