Gotabaya Rajapaksa in China with military top brass

Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the brother of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Sri Lanka Defence Ministry Secretary, left to China Saturday leading a military delegation consisting of the Chiefs of Staff of Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Airforce. China had been one of the mains suppliers of military hardware and expertise during Sri Lanka’s war on Vanni last year.

The Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army Major General Daya Ratnayake, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral D. W. A. S. Dissanakye and Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Air Force Vice Marshal P. B. Premachandra accompanied Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The visit is made with the view to help China consolidate its presence and military interests in Sri Lanka, Tamil political circles in Colombo said.
