SLA replaces STF in Paduvaankarai in Batticaloa district

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops are moving into Paduvaankarai area occupying camps vacated by Special Task Force (STF) of Sri Lanka Police. STF has started withdrawing from their camps located in the villages of Vellaave’li, Paalaiyadiveddai, Periya Poaratheevu and Maavadi Munmaari in Paduvaankarai area since Saturday.

The hope of Tamil families in these villages that they could lead a peaceful life in their own villages has been destroyed with the occupation of STF camps by SLA soldiers.

Now they live in fear reminded of the atrocities committed by the SLA soldiers when they had occupied their villages during the war.
