EP Chief Minister abets appropriation of Tamils’ lands – TNA parliamentarian

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Batticaloa district parliamentarian P. Selvarasa accused the Chief Minister of Eastern Province, Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias (Pillayan), for not taking any action against lands belonging to Tamils being encroached by Sinhala and Muslim people. Selvarasa, speaking as the chief guest in an event of the release of a CD titled ‘Gone with the Waves’ in Periya Kallaa’ru in Batticaloa district, raised the accusation. Repeated complaints made to the Chief Minister remain ignored as the colonization of Sinhala and Muslims in the lands of the Tamils continue unchecked, the MP said.

The event was held in Sri Vada Paththirakaa’li Amman temple in Periya Kallaa’ru.

Criminal activities and thuggery by paramilitary gangs of the ruling party continue to plague Eastern Province on one hand while the lands of the Tamils are being robbed by Sinhala and Muslim settlers on the other, Selvarasa said.

If not for the timely assistance rendered by the non-government and volunteer organizations to the people of Eastern province ravaged by tsunami and war they would have perished, he added.

Selvarasa accused Sri Lanka government for not helping the Tamils of Eastern province who had undergone immense suffering and losses and for engaging in schemes to appropriate their lands.
