Tamil diaspora names ‘cabinet’

Visvanathan Rudrakumaran, self-styled PM of the unrecognised Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE), has appointed a ‘Council of Ministers’ drawn from the Lankan Tamil community across the world, to challenge the Lankan government in the international arena in an organised way.

Rudrakumaran said the council of ministers would be charged with the responsibility of convincing the world, through persuasion, that an independent Tamil Eelam is the only solution to the problem in Lanka, getting detained LTTE cadre released, preventing alleged moves to change the ethnic composition of Tamil areas in north and east Lanka, and making the TGTE an “important stabilising factor in the geopolitics of South Asia and the Indian Ocean”.

An avowedly radical faction of the LTTE, led by Norway-based Nediyavan, has called upon Sri Lankan Tamils and the “oppressed people of India” to scuttle India’s bid to secure a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
