Fonseka admitted to prison hospital

Sarath Fonseka, former Commander of the Sri Lanka Army and currently serving a prison sentence of thirty months was admitted to Welikada prison hospital Tuesday night on his return from attending the “white flag” case against him in the High Court. Commissioner General of Prisons Major General (retired) V.R.de Silva told media sources that medical officers had confirmed that Fonseka was suffering from an illness.

However, Anoma Fonseka, wife of Sarath Fonseka, is reported to have told Colombo media that the cell where her husband is being detained was leaking the previous night due to heavy rain. She added prison officials had provided several buckets to place under the leaks.

Later prison officials told Fonseka to remain in prison hospital till the leaks of the cell is repaired, according to Anoma Fonseka.
