Rajapaksa appoints 59 member-cabinet

Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa Monday morning administered oaths to a fifty-nine member cabinet at the Presidential Secretariat. Nine senior ministers and forty-nine ministers are in the new cabinet. D. M. Jayaratne has been re-appointed as the Prime Minister.

Ratnasiri Wickremanayake (Good Governance and Infrastructure), A.H.M. Fowzie (Urban Development) Athauda Seneviratne (Rural Dev) , D. E. W. Gunasekara (Human Resources), Prof Tissa Vitharana (Science), Dr. Sarath Amunugama (International Financial Co-operation), S. B. Nawinna (Welfare of consumer), P. Dayaratna (Food and Nutrition) and Piyasena Gamage (National Resources) are the nine senior ministers.

Rauff Hakim, the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), and Vasudeva Nanayakara are among the new ministers.
