Madras University open to Lanka students: VC

While students from across the world were welcome to study in the Madras University, it was a double delight to open its doors to Tamil people from Sri Lanka, said G Thiruvasagam, vice chancellor of the university.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of a two-day seminar for students from the University of Jaffna on journalism, he said, “The doors of the Madras University are always open to these students and they could use our services and infrastructure anytime and for workshops of a longer duration too.”  27 students from the University of Jaffna, pursuing a full-time diploma course in journalism, are currently undergoing a two-day workshop on Tamil journalism, organised by the Department of Journalism and Communication, University of Madras.
