TNA parliamentarian rescued from being drowned in Batticaloa flood

Pakkiaselvam Ariyanethran, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian of Batticaloa district narrowly escaped from being washed away by flood water Sunday evening when he was returning via Ka’luvaagnchikkudi- Paddiruppu Bridge after inspecting the flood situation in Paduvaankarai area.

Ariyanethran MP left Sunday morning in his vehicle and visited transit camps located in flood affected villages Veaththucheanai, Villukku’lam, Pazhukaamam, Arasadiththeevu and Muthalikkudaa in Paduvaankarai area witnessing the condition of the displaced families sheltered there.

Later he met the Paddippazhai Divisional Secretary Mrs Vasuki Arulrasa at the latter’s office and had discussion about the relief to the affected.

Kaluvaagnchikkudi -Paddiruppu Bridge was under six feet of flood water and the vehicle he was returning was washed away in the flood. However his driver had rescued him from drowning, sources said.
