TNA MPs dropped from DDC meeting with Basil Rajapakse

Batticaloa district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians P.Selvarasa, C.Yogeswaran and P.Ariyanethran have not been invited for the District Development Committee (DDC) meeting that was scheduled to be held on Sunday morning with Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapakse. The meeting was summoned to review the progress of the ongoing development activities and to decide on the future development projects in the district.

Deputy Ministers, Chief Minister of the Eastern provincial Council (EPC), EPC councilors, Chairmen of Predesiya Sabhas, PS members, heads of departments and representatives of the non-governmental organizations were invited for the conference.

But three TNA parliamentarians did not receive invitations.

When this was brought to the notice of the Batticaloa district Government Agent Sundaram Arumainayagam, he replied that he was not aware of the situation, said Mr.P.Ariyanethran, Batticaloa district TNA parliamentarian.

The decision not to invite TNA parliamentarians to the DDC meeting was said to have been due to the challenge by Mr. C.Yogeswaran to the Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan to dissolve the council and to conduct fresh polls.

Mr.Yogeswaran further stated in the challenge that that Pilliayan would have supported the Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralidharan alias Karuna if the TNA had contested the last election to the EPC.
