Opponents cannot topple government before 2016, says SL President Rajapakse

Sri Lanka’s President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, has declared that if anyone wanted to topple his leadership and government, they will have to wait till the years 2016 and 2017 for either the general election and or the presidential election, the state run Dinamina newspaper said in the lead article on Sunday.

“No one can defeat this government elected by the masses, and the government’s future development plans even if they wanted to, and no one can defeat this government by spreading lies, If any party wants to defeat and or topple the government, they will have to wait till 2016 for the next general election or 2017 when the next presidential election is scheduled to be held,” Dinamina quoted Rajapakse as saying.

He criticized parties with vested interest for joining foreign forces and trying to bring disrepute to the country.
