Sri Lanka to initiate legal action against Channel 4: President

The Sri Lankan government is studying the possibility of  filing action against British Channel 4 for broadcasting a documentary which contain false allegations against the government, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today.

He said that legal consultations were underway to initiate the action.

President Rajapaksa addressing newspaper editors and heads of electronic media said that the government was also taking other counter measures regarding the channel 4 telecast.

He said that some of the video footage was material which had been picked up from video footage captured from Sri Lanka Air Force which had been screened to diplomats as well. ‘However the material appears to have been distorted’.
