Demonstration against Lankan war crimes

CHENNAI: A group of youngsters under a banner of ‘Youth Against War Crime and Genocide’ staged a demonstration in the city on Saturday seeking immediate attention of the Indian government against the SL government for killing innocent Tamils during the civil war in that country.

Besides raising slogans against the Lankan government for reportedly butchering innocent Tamils under the pretext of war against terrorism, agitators asked the Indian government to immediately implement the Tamil Nadu Assembly resolution seeking total economic sanctions against Sri Lanka for perpetrating war crimes and also for killing ethnic Tamil civilians in the last six decades.

Tamil Eelam supporter and film director Manivannan inaugurated the day-long agitation where number of other pro-Tamil leaders from different organisations participated.

The leaders who addressed the agitators asked the Indian government to support the international community’s demand for prosecuting the SL government for its role in war crimes in the island nation.
