Sri Lankan High Commissioner calls on Chief Minister
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Thursday urged Sri Lanka to ensure that attacks by its Navy on fishermen of the State and arrests of the fisherfolk did not recur.
She expressed this view to Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Prasad Kariyawasam when he called on her at the Secretariat. She emphasised that the torture to the fishermen be put to an end.
She told the envoy to convey her desire to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa that the Tamils be rehabilitated completely at the earliest.
Return to original places
The Sri Lankan government should see to it that the Tamils returned to their original places of dwelling.
