Govt. prepared to join hands with TNA

The Senior Minister of Good Governance and Infrastructure Facilities, Ratnasiri Wickremanayake said that the people consider the Tamil National Alliance as a pro-LTTE political party and that it still comprised pro-LTTE elements at international level.  Addressing a ceremony to commission the  Olabotuwa Water Supply Scheme in Horana, he said the Tamil community supported the TNA despite its relations with pro- LTTE elements.

The Olabotuwa Water Supply Scheme costing Rs 2.1 million was funded by the Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority.

Minister Wickremanayake went on to say: “However, the government is prepared to join hands with the TNA to find a political solution to the problems of the Tamil community. All parties concerned should meet and have a one-to-one discussion to find a viable political solution.  It should not be postponed for a moment. However, it will not be possible to find a solution overnight. They must workout a formula acceptable to both the North and the South. We must not rush things in our endeavour to solve a national issue that has been gathering momentum at international level. All parties concerned should put their heads together to solve the issue.”
