There was no intrusion; US

The United States Embassy in Colombo told the Daily Mirror a short while ago that there was no intrusion by US fighter jets into Lankan air space. “There was no intrusion,” the official said, and refused to comment further.

The government is said to protest to the US over the intrusion of air space by a squadron of ten fighter jets.

Civil Aviation Director General H. M. C. Nimalsiri said earlier that they were trying to establish whether the US fighter jets had violated the oceanic air space or the territorial part of it. Accepted international norms require, anyone wanting to use the country’s air space to file flight plans and obtain prior approval.
