Wimal Queries India’s Failure

A government has questioned India’s failure to investigate into the activities of the Indian Peace Keeping Forces (IPKF) during the conflict in 1987 when calling for human rights investigations on the final stages of the war.

Housing, Construction, Engineering Services and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa has said India could not ignore the conduct of the IPKF inSri Lankaduring 1987.

Speaking at a foundation stone laying ceremony in Mulleriyawa, Weerawansa has said that Sri Lanka could also call for an investigation on the conduct ofIndia.

According to the Minister, the Indian forces had abducted Tamil women during their stay in the country and therefore investigations should be called for such activities as well.
