(PTI) Sri Lankan Navy Commander Somathilake Dissanayake hailed a joint naval exercise between the navies of India and Sri Lanka, which ended today, as a reflection of long ties of goodwill, close relations and mutual cooperation between the two south Asian neighbours.
The five-day joint exercise off the coast of Trincomalee saw the participation of six Indian naval ships, helicopters and a Dornier maritime patrol aircraft. Some 11 Sri Lankan navy ships also participated, an Indian High Commission release here said.
The joint naval exercise is a reflection of long ties of goodwill, close relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries, Dissanayake said.
The exercise served as a platform for exchanging experiences on maritime interdiction operations, force protection measures, humanitarian and disaster relief operations and anti-piracy operations.
