What stars have to offer in 2012?
Ajith: One film and 130 crores! Thala once again wove magic at the box office in 2011 with Mankatha. And now he is busy with Billa 2, directed by Chakri Toleti. The film, which is expected to grace theatres on April 13, 2012, is a prequel and will narrate the story of David Billa’s earlier life. Post Billa 2, Ajith is expected to team up with director Vishnu Vardhan for an action entertainer.
Arya: His much awaited Vettai, directed by Lingusamy, is all set to grace theatres for this Pongal. After that he will be seen in Selvaraghavan’s Irandaam Ullagam opposite Anushka.
Dhanush: And the Kolaveri guy has already gone global with a single song. Dhanush’s first release this year will be 3 directed by his wife Aishwarya. After that he will start working on his first fantasy flick Mareesan, directed by Chimbudevan. Interesting in 2012 Dhanush is also planning to begin his first directorial venture which will be in Hindi.
Jiiva: Post the success of Ko, Jiiva is going places. For him the year will begin with the much awaited Nanban, directed by Shankar. This will be followed by Gautham Menon’s Neethane En Ponvasantham and finally Mysskin’s Mugamoodi.
Kamal Haasan: The veteran actor is currently busy with his directorial venture Vishwaroopam made with an whopping budget of Rs. 150 crores. It is said that the film will be a spy thriller on the lines of Mission Impossible series. Vishwaroopam is simultaneously shot in Tamil and Hindi; Kamal has reportedly learned Kathak from Birju Maharaj for the film.
Rajinikanth: 2011 wasa not-so-good year for our Superstar. He was hospitalized thrice and the whole country came to a standstill. Apart from that his much awaited film Rana (in which he appears in three roles) was halted temporarily. But later his cameo appearance in Ra. One came as big relief to the fans of the star. The actor is looking forward for his first animation film Kochadaiyaan, to be directed by his daughter Soundarya. Post that he is likely to restart Ravikumar’s Rana but there are also reports that he may team up with director Shankar to create an hat trick.
STR: Simbu has three projects lined up for this year; Podaa Podi with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vettai Mannan with Hansika and Vettrimaran’s Vada Chennai.
Suriya: Over the years, Suriya has emerged as one of the most bankable actors in Kollywood today. He is in fact a perfect blend of mass and class. The actor is currently busy with K.V. Anand’s Maatraan after that he will be teaming up with Venkat Prabhu for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual.
Vijay: Ilayathalapathy has a series of interesting film in 2012. The year will start with Shankar’s Nanban, remake of Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots. He is now busy with Murugadoss’ Thuppakki and after that he will team up with Gautham Menon for Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru.
Vikram: His first 2012 release will be magnum opus Karikalan. The film belongs to the genre of movies like Gladiator and Troy. After that he will team up with director Vijay again for Thaandavam. Apart from that Vikram has also signed his second Hindi film, David with Bejoy Nambiar.
Vishal: He has two big projects lined up for 2012; Samaran directed by Thiru co-starring Trisha and after that he will team up with his Sandakozhi director Lingusamy for a complete entertainer.
