Indian Foreign Minister Krishna visits Colombo, holds talks with TNA

India’s External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna arrived in Colombo Monday evening on a four-day official visit. He was scheduled to meet the parliamentary delegation of the Tamil National Alliance the same day evening around 6:30 p.m. at Taj Hotel in Colombo, according to TNA leader Mr.R.Sampanthan.

He is expected to call on SL President Mahinda Rajapakse and SL Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne during his visit.

According to the press release from the Indian High Commission that Mr.Krishna would meet with his Sri Lankan counterpart Prof. G.L. Peiris, besides meeting with the political leaders, including the leader of the Opposition and representatives of other Sri Lankan parties.

The press release further said that the Indian Minister plans to visit Ki’linochchi and Jaffna in North for observing progress of Indian government assisted projects and also to hand over the first lot of housing units in Ariyaalai.

The Indian FM is also scheduled to visit Galle where he is expected to inaugurate a segment of the Southern Railway Project implemented under a Line of Credit extended by India, the release added.
