Ilayathalapathy Vijay‘s part superhero avatar in and as ‘Velayudham’ struck a chord among the audience. The film has seen a successful 100 day run in the box-office and has been declared as one of the biggest hits in 2011.
‘Velayudham’ starring Vijay, Genelia D’ Souza, Hansika Motwani was a Diwali release and had the protagonist, Vijay, don the mask of a superhero due to circumstances that push him into it. Taking a dig on a social issue, the film was welcomed with open arms by his fans and family audience in the urban and rural centers.
The film was helmed by Jayam Raja and had music by Vijay Antony. It was a clean package with a good dosage of action, drama and comedy.
It may be mentioned, Vijay‘s latest offering, ‘Nanban’, is also seeing a good run in theatres. He’s currently working on ‘Thupaki’ with AR Murugadoss.
