Sri Lanka’s president to visit Singapore – Channel NewsAsia

President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka will be in Singapore for a state visit from February 14-17.

Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that President Tony Tan Keng Yam will host the welcome ceremony and state banquet for President Rajapaksa on Wednesday.

President Rajapaksa will also meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Both leaders will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation between the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and the Singapore Business Federation.

President Rajapaksa, who is also Minister of Defence, will also meet Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen.

President Rajapaksa will visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where an orchid will be named in his honour.

He will visit Marina Barrage and the Singapore Air Show 2012.

He will also receive a briefing by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports on policies relating to community relations and social harmony.
