Ranil makes special statement on fuel

Ranil Wickremasinghe UNP and opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe made a special statement in parliament today on the fuel price hike.

Wickremasinghe said that the fuel price hike had nothing to do with the world market price of oil or sanctions imposed on Iran.

He was of the opinion that the government was merely trying to fill its pockets with additional money.

Wickremasinghe also noted that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) was once a profit making government institution but since the time the UPFA came to power it has been turned into a loss making State institution.
