Douglas to India by sea with fishermen

Minister Douglas Devananda said that he was planning to go to India by boats with some 5,000 fishermen in 1000 boats to talk to the Indian fishermen, who were regularly intruding into the territorial waters of Sri Lanka.

Addressing a Press conference in Jaffna, Minister Devananda said that the Indian fishermen were intruding into the Sri Lankan territorial waters in the Northern Province and taking away the resources that belonged to the local fishermen.

The Minister also said before undertaking the journey that he would send a telegraph to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jayaram, informing of the journey.

He said that he would go from three points from the north   Point Pedro, Mullaitivu and Mannar. (N.Parameswaran)
