No Indian houses for uprooted Batticaloa Tamils from Vanni

Hundreds of Tamil residents, who were uprooted from Vanni in the 2009 genocidal onslaught and resettled in Batticaloa district now, have not been provided permanent houses under the Indian housing project, according to complaints made to the Batticaloa District Citizen Committee.

The resettled survivors of the genocidal onslaught are still sheltered in temporary huts in Batticaloa.

The affected people residing in Aaraip-pattai (Aaraiyampathi), Thaazhagkudaa and Kiraan-ku’lam attended the monthly meeting of the Batticaloa Citizen Committee last Sunday and brought their pathetic situation without permanent dwellings to the notice of the civil society.
