India fears LTTE men may enter TN

The Centre on Monday said that there was a possibility of LTTE terrorists entering India through the sea adding that the Tamil Nadu government had been sensitized about it.

"Enough precautions have been taken. The state government has been sensitized to the possible entry of militants (LTTE) through the coastline of Tamil Nadu," Union home minister P Chidambaram told reporters here.

Asked as to when LTTE chief V Prabhakarn died, the minister said: "I don’t think we should speak or speculate on a person who is dead. Even the dead need to be treated with dignity."

He said the Sri Lankan government had announced that Prabhakaran was killed on the morning of May 17 and "I think we should accept that statement". Asked about the return of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees now sheltered in Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram said: "Let the situation be normal (in Sri Lanka).
