Shiranthi Rajapakse seeks Jaffna Bishop’s help

Shiranthi Rajapakse, wife of President Mahinda Rajapakse, paid a visit to Jaffna Bishop’s House Monday evening where she entreated Jaffna Bishop, Rt. Rev. Thomas Saundaranayagam to help get the people of Jaffna peninsula to vote for her husband in the presidential election, Bishop House sources said. She had also requested him to ask the peninsula residents not to refrain from voting in the forthcoming presidential election, the sources added.

Sarath Fonseka and Ranil Wicremasinghe were the first to visit Jaffna Bishop seeking his support followed by Mahinda Rajapakse.

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) was the next to visit Jaffna Bishop.

Though Shiranthi Rajapakse had openly requested Jaffna Bishop’s help he had not made any comment in response, the sources said.
