CID arrests Sinhala youth over threat on President’s life

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sri Lanka Police Monday arrested a nineteen-year-old Sinhala youth at Matale in the central province over an alleged threat on the life of Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa, police sources said

The youth had reportedly called the Police emergency number and issued the threat on President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s life when the President was visiting Nugegoda last week to inspect the alternate site for displaced payment hawkers.

The arrested youth has been sent for a medical examination as he is suspected to be a psychiatric patient, police further said.
