Jaffna MC votes on LLRC The Jaffna Municipal Council (MC) has adopted a resolution calling for the implementation of the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), a Jaffna based newspaper reported today.

According to the Uthayan newspaper, the Jaffna Municipal Council adopted the resolution by a majority of two votes with 10 members voting for and eight against it.

The resolution says the government must implement the recommendations of the LLRC without leaving room for outside intervention.

Speaking before the resolution was adopted Jaffna MC Member M. Rameez said that America is attempting to get involved in Sri Lanka affairs like it has already done in some Muslim countries.

He said that such attempts should be condemned.

TNA member V. Kanagaratnam meanwhile noted that the ethnic divide is preventing reconciliation in the country.
