New Delhi continues to backstab Eezham Tamils, ignoring the reality that it is the nation of Eezham Tamils that would be the only friendly force India could count on if Indian interests were to be geopolitically compromised in the future, said M.K. Sivajilingam Councillor of the Northern Provincial Council and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) in Jaffna after returning from taking part in the meetings and press events held in Geneva. There is no use in the powerless 13th Amendment. The international community should create a UN-backed interim management to secure the nation of Eezham Tamils from the protracted genocide in the island he said. Any permanent solution should recognise the sovereignty of Eezham Tamils and their absolute right to self-determination, he said.
Thanking US-based attorney Karen Parker, J.D., who has been consistently voicing for the right to self-determination of Eelam Tamils at the UN Human Rights forums, Mr Sivajilingam said adding that the international community has a responsibility to ensure the delivery of remedial justice to Eezham Tamils.
Any political solution acceptable to Tamils should not violate the concepts of historical, earned and remedial sovereignty claim of Eezham Tamils as a nation, he said.
Mr Shivajilngam was addressing the journalists at Jaffna Press Club on Friday explaining the side events and meetings attended by him in Geneva. He was also one of the politicians from the island to address the Human Rights Council session through a slot provided by a NGO with consultative status on 26 March, a day before the voting took place on UNHRC resolution.
