Sri Lanka: Tamil trader abducted in Colombo

A 62-year-old Tamil trader was abducted by unidentified persons Monday when the trader was returning to his shop in Pettah from his residence located in Dias Place in Colombo after lunch, according to complaints lodged with the Vaalaiththoddam Police by his relatives.

The victim was identifeid as Kandiah Senthilnathan.

The police spokesman Ranjit Gunasekara said that the police had commenced inquiry into the abduction.
Police said the abductors had demanded 2.5 million rupees from Senthilnathan, and abducted him when he refused to pay the demanded sum.
