Black flag agitation against PM’s visit in Tamil Nadu

More than 500 volunteers of the Periyar Dravida Kazhagam and Tamil Eelam supporters, led by Mr P Nedumaran were arrested, when they staged a black flag agitation against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for failing to protect the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The agitators staged the black flag demonstration this morning, when the Dr Singh arrived to the Chennai Trade Centre to inaugurate the Seventh Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

Waving black flags at Saidapet, about 10 kms away from the Prime Minsiter’s function venue, the agitators, shouted slogans against Dr Singh for failing to come to the rescue of the Lankan Tamils.

”Go back Prime Minister..Do not come to Tamil Nadu after failing to protect the Lankan Tamils,” they shouted as police arrested them for staging the demonstration, violating prohibitory orders.
