Celebrity Cricket League from January 13

image The second edition of much awaited Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), which brings around 100 actors across the country to compete and test their cricket skills in a Twenty20 cricket format, will start on January 13 in Sharjah.

The Telugu Warriors, Chennai Rhinos, Mumbai Heroes, Kerala Strikers, Bengal Tigers and Karnataka Bulldozers are this year’s teams. The inaugural match will be held between Mumbai Heroes and Chennai Rhinos in Sharjah cricket stadium.

While actor Vishnu Manchu owns Telugu Warriors, L. Ganga Prasad of G.V.R. Infra Projects is the owner of Chennai Rhinos, and Ashok Kheny of A.K.K. Entertainment has Karnataka Bulldozers. Bengal Tigers is owned by Boney Kapoor and his actress-wife Sridevi, while Kerala Strikers is owned by actor Mohanlal.

"The league is also growing in size. Last year we had four teams, this year we’ve got six teams and next year we are going to have eight teams and then we are going to end with ten teams. We are going to introduce the Marathi and Punjabi team next year. Then there will be a Bhojpuri and a Gujarati team. We plan to cover all the film industries of India and it is a great platform for bringing together directors and producers," filmmaker Sohail Khan said.
