Sarath Fonseka invites Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake to join politics

SarathFonseka18285 Former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance Leader Sarath Fonseka today invited Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake to step into active politics stating that he was willing to support her in such an event.

Fonskea told a news conference yesterday that he was ready to support Ms. Bandaranayake if she decided to step into politics. He said the Chief justice should do so as he too had no regrets in taking up politics. “I did not swallow any dead rope given by anyone and I like to tell the chief justice that she too won’t be swallowing a dead rope if she takes up politics,” he said.

He said he did not regret coming into politics as he still believed that he won the presidential election of 2010. “I still believe that my victory was grabbed by someone and therefore I do not regret coming in to politics,’ he said.

Mr Fenseka said every one should get together in changing this regime as it had brought this country to an emergency situation. He said an emergency situation should be declared now as the country was in a political turmoil in one hand while there are natural disasters on the other. He said he would appeal to the people to behave as if the country is in an emergency situation even if the government fails to declare an emergency situation,” he added.
