UNP backs LLRC report

UNP backs LLRC report The United National Party (UNP) has backed the implementation of the recommendations in the final report of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told reporters today that the UNP will give its fullest support to the government when implementing the recommendations.

Government Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva had said yesterday that the government will not fully implement the LLRC recommendations as it had gone beyond its mandate in some instances.

Attanayake however questioned de Silva’s statement as he himself had last year praised the report when it was submitted in parliament.
