SL military operatives attack TNA parliamentarians in Ki’linochchi

Four Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians, Mavai Senathirajah, S. Sritharan, E. Saravanapavan and MA Sumanthiran, who visited Ki’linochchi Saturday morning for a meeting at Sritharan MPs office, were surrounded by a mob that was carrying Lion flag and shouting slogans against the TNA parliamentarians. The group, started to pelt stones at the office and at the vehicles of the Tamil parliamentarians. The Tamil public in the vicinity who came to help the parliamentarians, caught two of the attackers. But, instead of arresting the culprits, the SL Police which came to the site more than one hour after the assault had started, freed the two alleged SL military operatives, initial reports said.

TNA Spokesperson Suresh Premachandran MP convened a press conference at Jaffna Press Club and condemned the act of the SL military intelligence that is allegedly behind the attack.

The attack that started at 11:00 a.m. and lasted till 12:30 p.m.

Several civilians have sustained injuries from the attack by the mob.
