In the global geopolitical situation of today, China is gaining in ‘Sri Lanka’ by recognising its ‘potential’ and by not caring for the human rights yardstick, while the USA is falling behind by not doing so, was the message genocidal Sri Lanka wanted to convey in the USA through its ambassador and through a visiting parliamentarian and coordinating secretary to Mahinda Rajapaksa. If the island is allowed to continue any further under a single State that is congenitally genocidal, there will be no end to its blackmailing humanity indefinitely, through its so-called geopolitical importance by alternately inviting greedy Establishments of the world. If humanity wishes to teach a lesson to geopolitical terrorism, the paradigm-setting target is ‘Sri Lanka’, responded Tamil activists for alternative politics.
Particularly neighbouring India and non-power countries in the world should realise the potential danger ‘Sri Lanka’ could cause to the world, rather than competing in making blocs with the eel of a State and upholding its ‘genocidal unity’, the activists said.
“We welcome the U.S. as we welcome China, but China perhaps appreciates and recognized our potential,” Prasad Kariyawasam, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to the U.S., said in an interview in Washington, adding, “They are quick to work on that,” reported Bloomberg this week.
Meanwhile, giving an interview in Washington on Tuesday, Sajin de Vass Gunawardena, parliamentarian and coordinating secretary to Mahinda Rajapaksa was cited saying that human rights issues shouldn’t hinder closer economic ties with the US.
“That should not be the yardstick by which you base your relationship, especially bilaterally in a geopolitical situation as what we face globally today,” de Vass Gunawardena said on July 15. “That’s where, fundamentally, the U.S. is falling behind and where China is gaining,” Vass Gunawardena said.
“We have gone on a process that is good for the people of Sri Lanka that is good for the country. It may not be with the agenda of the LTTE diaspora, with the expats living outside of Sri Lanka, but it is good for the people of Sri Lanka,” Gunawardena was telling in the USA on what the Tamils and the Permanent People’s Tribunal (PPT) say genocide and continued genocide.
Gunawardena was citing “rapid pace” reconciliation and studies in South Africa’s reconciliation efforts to address accountability, exposing what actually the South African move is, and from which quarters and with what intentions it originates.
The Pol Pot regime in Cambodia also maintained throughout that what they did was for the good of the country and people. There was a China to course the genocide through the Pol Pot regime and there was a USA and the West to save the involved personalities later, as Vietnam militarily moved to change the regime.
The genocide of Eezham Tamils was coursed by the USA and India through the Pol Pot in Colombo, and this Pol Pot has now gone to China for protection, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics.
In the case of Cambodia it was not nations-oriented genocide to continue forever if unchecked. At least Pol Pot was ousted through a neighbour’s move and there was open international recognition of the genocide for the reconciliation of the people.
Nothing of that sort happened in the case of Eezham Tamils. The agent who performed the genocide continues with it, claiming it as ‘reconciliation’; the genocidal military is petted by all the powers cum the United Nations, and there is no recognition of the genocide or appropriate solutions to the national question coming from those who talk about investigating the ‘crimes of both sides’.
A liberation movement that was totally restrained on committing crimes such as rape was branded as ‘international terrorists’ while a genocidal military that always wished to see Tamils naked, is regarded as protectors of the international system.
Genocidal Sri Lanka’s confidence and blackmailing strength come from the failure of the USA and India in confessing to their blunders, in recognising the realities in the island and in upholding righteous solutions.
On his last visit to China, after Modi government coming to power in New Delhi, Rajapaksa has signed an agreement for giving 1200 acres in the hub of defence area in Trincomalee Inner Harbour to China on a long-term lease for ‘defence development’.
China is altogether new to imperialistic games in South Asia. Perhaps, it doesn’t know what is a lasting gain and what is not, or perhaps it doesn’t care for it, said Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island.
